Phil Simmons, the head coach of Bangladesh, has departed from the team's tour of Sri Lanka to consult with doctors in London regarding a pre-scheduled medical appointment.
Contrary to rumors suggesting he was summoned for a performance review by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, Aminul Islam, Simmons' trip was planned in advance for medical reasons.
The former West Indies opener is expected to rejoin the squad in Sri Lanka on July 7, making him available for the third and final One Day International (ODI) of the series. Following the ODI series, Bangladesh is scheduled to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Sri Lanka.
The Bangladesh team, after a promising start with a draw in the first Test, struggled to maintain their form, losing the second Test and consequently the series. Their struggles continued in the ODI series, where they suffered a dramatic collapse in the first match, resulting in a loss.
